  1. In Europe most companies insist on you taking all your paid leave each year. It’s in their interest to ensure that employees use their holiday entitlement to avoid burnout

      That’s great Kathryn! It is so smart to keep employees in productive shape by insisting that they take time off. The mindset is very different in the USA unfortunately, and people taking minimal vacation time definitely leads to burnout. As an American I am also very jealous of the longer paid vacations available to Europeans. In the US, 2 weeks is what you typically get for paid vacation, and there is actually no legal requirement for your employer to offer you paid vacation at all!
